Marup (plural Marups)

  1. A Meitei traditional economic system of saving, where each member of a like-minded group of people contributes certain equal amount of money regularly for a particular period of time, and each member will be given a turn of acquiring the total contribution in each installment.
  2. (Apokpa Marup) A Meitei socioreligious group, adhering to the revivalism of Sanamahism faith and Meetei script, from their previous states of extinction to proliferation, founded in 1930, in Cachar, Assam.
