Montadale (plural Montadales)

  1. A breed of sheep, a hybrid of Cheviot and Columbia.
    • 1994, Nora Janssen Seton, The Road to My Farm, →ISBN, page 162:
But the reason she chose Montadales was that they have, as a breed, little lambing difficulty, and they make good mothers.
    • 2002, Small Farm Today - Volumes 19-21, page 31:
The early results gained the attention of sheep producers, as Montadales made their mark in lambing contests, ram testing experiments, and fat stock shows.
    • 2011, Carol Ekarius, Deborah Robson, The Fleece & Fiber Sourcebook, →ISBN:
The fleeces of black Montadales (which produce a range of grays) are intended only for handspinners and small-scale artisan yarn production, because they are useless to the mass-industrial system.
