Borrowed from Middle Scots Nuddrie, Nydrie, from Early Scots Nudre, from earlier Nodref, ultimately from Proto-Brythonic *nöwɨð (new) +‎ *treβ (farm), from Proto-Celtic *nowiyos + *trebā.
