Etymology 2
From German Low German Pik, as with German einen Pik auf jemanden haben used in the phrase enen Pik up jemand hebben, and that borrowed from French pique in être en pique avec quelqu’un. This phrase is hardly known in German, though occasionally popping up in literature. Better known is the adjective pikiert, and the phrase is more frequent in Serbo-Croatian though dated in German and French.
