Proto-Finnic

Etymology

Borrowed from either early Lua error in Module:parameters at line 290: Parameter 1 should be a valid language or etymology language code; the value "fiu-fin-pro" is not valid. See WT:LOL and WT:LOL/E. (whence German stur, Dutch stoer)[1] or from Lua error in Module:parameters at line 290: Parameter 1 should be a valid language or etymology language code; the value "fiu-fin-pro" is not valid. See WT:LOL and WT:LOL/E. (compare Sanskrit स्थूर (sthūrá, big, bulky, thick), Proto-Indo-Iranian *stʰuHrás), in either case ultimately from Lua error in Module:parameters at line 290: Parameter 1 should be a valid language or etymology language code; the value "fiu-fin-pro" is not valid. See WT:LOL and WT:LOL/E..

Not directly related with the more widespread Germanic root *stōraz (whence e.g. Swedish stor), which has and not as the root vowel.[1]
