Proto-Finnic[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Possibly derived from the root *tajë-, whence also Finnish taipua (to bend; to change; to be possible), but the semantics make this unlikely; Finnish taju is probably derived from *taitadak rather than both from a common root. This etymology is incomplete. You can help Wiktionary by elaborating on the origins of this term.
