Proto-Finnic[edit]
Etymology[edit]
From Proto-Finno-Permic *terä (“edge”). The word has been suggested to go back to Proto-Finno-Ugric with Hungarian tőr as a cognate, but an Iranian origin for the Hungarian word has also been suggested.
