[edit]From Proto-Balto-Slavic *kas-is. Morphologically from *kъ(to) + *jь. Perhaps a piecewise doublet of *čьjь (further compare Ancient Greek ποῖος (poîos) and Latin cuius (< quoius) for the formation).
