Etymology of taug and tog

[edit]

Is it this *tawwą that gave rise to ON tog? Svensk etymologisk ordbok says *tuga- (*tuȝa-), a relative to *taugō, is the origin of tog. Apparently there is also a *tugi-. So what is *tawwą? — Knyȝt (talk) 18:53, 19 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

It's the ancestor of Dutch touw. —CodeCat 19:00, 19 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
Alright, *tuga- should be created as ancestor to ON tog then (?), and I assume Danish tov and Norwegian tog belong there as well, not here. — Knyȝt (talk) 21:28, 19 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
