@Wikitiki89: Carpathian Rusyn стрі́бро (stríbro) doesn't look inherited; isn't it borrowed from a West Slavic language (Slovak striebro?) instead?

Beside, I'm unsure of the origin of Ukrainian срі́бло (sríblo); and is Russian сребро́ (srebró) a borrowing from OCS, or from Polish? I'd say OCS, because of the accent of Belarusian срэ́бра (srébra).

What do you think of this? --Per utramque cavernam (talk) 14:08, 31 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Carpathian Rusyn стрі́бро (stríbro) is probably borrowed from Czech/Slovak. Ukrainian срі́бло (sríblo) could be from Polish, I can't think of any better explanation. Russian сребро́ (srebró) is probably from OCS. Alternatively, Ukrainian срі́бло (sríblo), Belarusian срэ́бра (srébra), and Russian сребро́ (srebró) could all actually be native. --WikiTiki89 15:41, 2 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It's a difficult word. It seems strange to me that there could be two inherited words, but I guess one series could come from Old East Slavic сьребро (sĭrebro), the other from серебро (serebro). --Per utramque cavernam (talk) 10:05, 3 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

References to linguistic works and method[edit]

@Metaknowledge, I'm not going to look at anything, you have to specify the source for this particular page. If this is not done, I will cancel the edit again. -- Gnosandes (talk) 23:59, 14 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You're clearly not acting in good faith if you refuse to look at the reference in the Proto-Berber entry. I have warned you against edit warring, so if you refuse to discuss this on linguistic grounds, we are done. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 06:54, 15 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Metaknowledge, I'm not going to look anywhere. You made the edit without reference to the source in the Proto-Slavic page. It is you who are imposing the war of edits, or rather you started it. If you don't stop doing this, I will sort out WT:BP -- Gnosandes (talk) 12:34, 15 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
