Etymology[edit]

From Schwarzentrub +‎ -er, literally someone from Schwarzentrub, referring to a place in the municipality of Trub in the Emmental region of the canton of Bern in Switzerland, from schwarz (black) +‎ Trub (a place name). The village of Trub is first mentioned in 1139 as Truoba.[1] Most likely, the name stems from the small creek Trueb that is running though the village.
