Etymology[edit]
From Schwarzentrub + -er, literally “someone from Schwarzentrub”, referring to a place in the municipality of Trub in the Emmental region of the canton of Bern in Switzerland, from schwarz (“black”) + Trub (“a place name”). The village of Trub is first mentioned in 1139 as Truoba.[1] Most likely, the name stems from the small creek Trueb that is running though the village.
