- (Opsterland) First attested as sigerwolde in 1315. Calque of West Frisian Sigerswâld, derived in turn from a compound of Old Frisian Sieger (“a personal name”) and wald (“marsh forest, swamp forest”).
- (Tytsjerksteradiel) First attested as sigherswold in 1484. Calque of West Frisian Sigerswâld, derived in turn from a compound of Old Frisian Sieger (“a personal name”) and wald (“marsh forest, swamp forest”).
