An improper simplification of the McCune-Reischauer romanization Sunhŭng of (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Korean 순흥 (sunheung), from Sino-Korean 順興, literally meaning "Following", "Obeying", or "Adhering to Prosperity" or "Success" but also used as a Sino-Korean transcription of a local clan name.
