Etymology

@Anylai, Wyang, ZxxZxxZ, Aryamanarora, Vahagn_Petrosyan Does anyone know anything more about this word?
Ramstedt says Kalmyk is from Kirghiz (checked a Kir. dictionary, nothing), compares it to Ottoman badränǯ (checked Redhouse, checked tureng, nothing) which he derives from Persian (I don't have a handy Persian dictionary, but I looked up the word for mint, nothing), I flipped through a few more dictionaries (Turkic, Pahlavi, Tibetan, ...) and all I got is भद्रमुञ्ज (bhadramuñja) which is not even similar to mint nor to our word, but it does look a bit like badränǯ, does anyone have further cognates? See here and here for the cognates. --Vahag (talk) 18:16, 8 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
Damn, why does Armenian hold the key to all etymological riddles? Crom daba (talk) 20:15, 8 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
I found the heart of it in Manichean Persian http://imgur.com/ynERpdQl.png, now to find a suitable Turkic/Tibetan intermediary. Crom daba (talk) 20:38, 8 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
