Etymology[edit]

@Atitarev: This blog post claims that this word is meant to sound pseudo-Albanian: "Котэ - это шуточное название с шуточного «албанского» языка." Do you think that's accurate? I've never been exposed to Albanian, so I don't know what it stereotypically sounds like. --WikiTiki89 15:11, 8 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind, I guess it's using the slang meaning of ru:албанский (we should probably add that sense, too). Still, I think we should add this to the etymology, although I don't know how best to describe it in English. --WikiTiki89 15:17, 8 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Wikitiki89: it's an example of deliberate creative misspelling and word alteration that is popular in online slang. Same general idea as going from lol to lulz in English online slang. I just described it as "alteration", feel free to add more details if you like. Tetromino (talk) 17:33, 8 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
