Talk:Ἀξίοχος

1) About ety. Hofmann at lemma έχω has the Homeric ὀχέω = I carry, I hold. And the noun? οι όχοι = the holders, the ones that have, the guardians. I presume αξία (value, virtue) + οχος. The one who is/holds great value. Probably quasi Ηνίοχος.
2) Poor Αξίοχος has no descendants (that I know of). I'm afraid that the See also, and the Descendants are out. Αντίοχος yes, it survives. Cannot think of other similar names at the moment. sarri.greek (talk) 21:18, 24 January 2018 (UTC)

-οχος (-okhos) is probably derived directly from ἔχω (ékhō), like φόρος (phóros) from φέρω (phérō) (and see Ancient Greek words suffixed with -ος (o-grade)). Your explanation of the meaning makes sense; I can add it. — Eru·tuon 22:18, 24 January 2018 (UTC)
