Sense 2 does not appear to be distinct from sense 1, however "run not to be pursued" isn't correct English, so the precise meaning is unclear. — 71.168.173.2 21:01, 5 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

The Japanese Wiktionary lists no fewer than seven senses. I think I see a general sense of “escape”, not necessarily involving running or even any physical motion.  --Lambiam 18:02, 6 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

I expanded the entry referencing the Japanese version, and we could just replace the にげる entry with a {{ja-see}} redirect Shen233 (talk) 06:05, 8 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Lambiam, Shen233: Meanings of English escape already include the meaning of "run not to be pursued", which is identical with what written in the sense 3 in the verb section of the English article "To avoid capture". So sense 2 is superfluous.--荒巻モロゾフ (talk) 21:12, 12 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Are you referencing to the 逃げる or にげる entry? Shen233 (talk) 21:33, 12 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Your expansion noted above was of 逃げる, but this rfv is about sense 2 of にげる. BTW, note that the def of sense 2 of にげる was revised on May 8th.  --Lambiam 08:52, 13 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Why don't we simply use {{alternative spelling of|逃げる}}?  --Lambiam 08:52, 13 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Since the kana-only spelling has no lexically independent information, I think we should use {{ja-see}} to point to the lemma form at 逃げる. ‑‑ Eiríkr Útlendi │Tala við mig 03:35, 15 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
