Glyph Origin[edit]

Phono-semantic compound (形聲形声): semantic (hand) + phonetic (OC *kloːl, *kloːls).

This would be my natural assumption. However, I don't have any direct, scholarly evidence that this is correct. The wo1 pronunciation seems like it is in the phonetic series with 窩 蝸 渦. The zhua pronunciation gives me pause. --Geographyinitiative (talk) 20:30, 26 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
