Chinese usage note about Mainland China TV shows[edit]

Chinese has the following usage note:

Usually placed in a pair of “ ” in Mainland China TV shows.

Can someone explain why or the context here?

Is it only for a particular sense? Andrew talk (afc0703) 13:02, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Division[edit]

@Justinrleung @RcAlex36 Imho, 死 should be in Division "plain" III (III-4 or III-A) instead of "III-chongniu" (III-3 or III-B). According to ytenx 1, 死's reconstructed Middle Chinese pronunciation by Zhengzhang Shangfang was siɪ(X), not sˠiɪX. According to Yunjing 2, 死 is on row 4, indicating that it belongs to III-4 / III-A / "plain" III (in wikt classification), not III-3 / III-B / III-chongniu.
