Attestation in Middle Chinese[edit]

@Wyang, Tooironic Would you be able to find anything that would support the current etymology (which should not exist if we move the Middle Chinese into the pronunciation section)? — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 04:47, 22 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

I can't find any. Anyway, I think this kind of etymology (from Middle Chinese or wasei kango) is not particularly high-yield, because firstly there is too much conjecture and subjectivity, and secondly it's an incorrect application of the phonological concept of "Middle Chinese" to written attestations in a stage of "Classical Chinese".
