通常

Can anyone verify the noun sense given for Japanese 通常 (tsūjō, “normal, usual, regular”)? The only noun-ish usage that I can recall encountering is 通常は, where the term is followed by the topic particle wa, but in this case it's used more as an adverbial phrase: usually, normally. I can't think of any other noun usages that I'm aware of (though that might just be a faulty memory), and none of my dictionaries to hand give any noun sense; they're all either adjectives or adverbs. ‑‑ Eiríkr Útlendi │ Tala við mig 18:05, 6 February 2014 (UTC)

It is not an adjective grammatically. It is a noun just like 普通. Try searching 通常の場合. — TAKASUGI Shinji (talk) 04:04, 7 February 2014 (UTC)

I've searched through quotations and can't find any examples of the rfved noun sense, but the distinction between "usual" and "the usual" seems overly fine to me. My copy of Meikyo lists it as a noun and nothing else but I'd hesitate to remove the adjective section because I can find examples of 通常な such as this:

• 1929, 堀辰雄, 「オルジェル伯爵の舞踏會」:

  ラジィゲの才能は通常な風をしてゐるのだ。
