That's some serious sh*t. Is the contributor just saying that there are several different hiragana and romajis for the kanji meaning "deer". It's pretty tempting to delete the lot and add a note to the talk page saying there might be a Japanese entry for this word. Or a 'good' version in the page history. Actually, yes, this single kanji does have at least five different kun'yomi, according to my copy of Shogakukan's 国語大辞典 (新装版) (1988), and each one has its own etymology, though most have the same meaning of deer. That's the fun problem with written Japanese -- a single kanji may wind up being used for what we would think of in English as multiple distinct synonyms. This leads to the problem of needing multiple different lemma entries with mostly the same content, and the problem of kanji lemma entries with multiple etymologies, much as with 鹿 here.

That said, I've done some minor housekeeping and judge the entry as properly cleaned, so I'm striking it from the list here and removing the RFC from the entry. -- Eiríkr Útlendi │ Tala við mig 17:42, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
