@Mahagaja: Hello. Do you think you could you record this pronunciation? It makes me laugh. --Per utramque cavernam (talk) 22:09, 19 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Per utramque cavernam, Erutuon: is it real? I've never heard it pronounced that way. Like afterthought without the first /t/. —Mahāgaja (formerly Angr) · talk 22:13, 19 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Mahagaja: Yep, I've heard it several times. I added it after I'd heard it in a TV show. Unfortunately, I don't remember now which one it was. It might even have been used in the phrase malice afferthought. — Eru·tuon 22:43, 19 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I'll see what I can do. —Mahāgaja (formerly Angr) · talk 09:03, 20 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think we need 'incorrect' pronunciations here unless they are very common. Or at least more common than "rare". I have removed the following
(rare, nonstandard) IPA(key): /ˈæfɚθɔt/, /ˈæfɚθɑt/
(file)
If you can pin it down to a particular dialect it can go back in. But not as something that AFAIK could have been deliberately mispronounced on a sitcom, nor inadvertent mispronunciation by an uneducated newsreader (e.g. recent mispronunciation of "frigate" on Oz TV news as something like /ˈfɹɪd͡ʒ.ət/), nor as part of an idiolect.

I think I've heard it several times, maybe in a Star Trek series for one, and remember it as being surprising in context (not used for humor or to indicate lack of education). It's an uncommon word, so it would be hard to figure out how common the pronunciation is. There's a similar pronunciation of aforementioned. — Eru·tuon 06:44, 7 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
