That's a different "couldna", I think. This is a contraction of "could not have", whereas the "-na(e)"s of Scotland are from the old "ne", and are equivalent to forms of English with "not" (and thus Scots "couldna(e)" is equivalent to English "could not"). Tharthan (talk) 05:17, 19 June 2019 (UTC)
