Can it mean something like "old, obsolete, ugly through age"?[edit]
For example if a programmer says that they have inherited some crusty old Transact-SQL which they are now forced to maintain. I don't think it means "of inferior quality" as much as "suffering from being old, and perhaps having a lot of old crap stuck to it". Imagine an old ship covered in barnacles. Sophie: A murder in West Cork[edit]
I’ve just first heard ‘crusties’ meaning something like ‘hippie immigrants’ in this documentary on Netflix for the first time (and I’m British). It clearly is also an Irish expression as well as British, so I’ve amended the regional tag to include Ireland. Overlordnat1 (talk) 09:32, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
