My dad used to use either this word or "dọt" as a tongue-in-cheek way to mean "let's leave". Is this term something that somebody is familiar with?

@Thaiphanvevo Not really... can you please provide more context? Which dialect does he speak? @PhanAnh123, Fumiko Take. Wyang (talk) 11:39, 11 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
"dọt" is clearly the Southern Vietnamese phonetic writing of vọt, which is an adverb that describes rapid actions, "dọc" is probably an even more Southernized version of it.PhanAnh123 (talk)
Cool thanks! That makes sense. My mum described the word to me previously as a word criminals would use as they ran from the scene of the crime. Thaiphanvevo (talk) 12:05, 11 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Thaiphanvevo Hmm... reminded me of vụt, though there is a vowel mismatch. Wyang (talk) 12:22, 11 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Garcinia multiflora

[edit]

Doesn't this term also refer to a plant called Garcinia multiflora? The fruits are called quả dọc. 76.190.213.189 20:57, 4 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
