Tennis[edit]

I haven't tried to cite it yet, but double is slang for double fault, both the noun and the verb. It came up a lot in some old US Open footage I was watching, and a far as I know, we do accept audio cites. Renard Migrant (talk) 11:26, 30 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

May I add the sentence "He offered me double." to the first nominal meaning? --Backinstadiums (talk) 19:47, 16 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Possible missing sense: a trick[edit]

Chambers 1908 has the noun sense "a trick". It's not marked as slang or anything, but I suspect it might be rhyming slang from "double-quick", since they list it immediately after that sense. However, I don't know how to attest it. "He played a double on me"? Equinox 12:34, 28 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

uwu no doubles![edit]

I've seen "doubles" in, erm, fictionkin communities, referring to people who associate themselves with the same fictional character. Obviously makes things awkward. Equinox 14:39, 11 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
