Prefix

[edit]

@Ysrael214 I'm not sure about this but TagaSanPedroAko seems to think it should be "isa-", instead of "i-" and "-sa-". See isagawa. Mar vin kaiser (talk) 13:37, 24 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Mar vin kaiser That's fine but maybe the isa- prefix should have an entry? because I think isa- is just i- + sa-. (Also said in Panganiban, p. 530) Ysrael214 (talk) 21:51, 24 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
@TagaSanPedroAko Tagging as well. Ysrael214 (talk) 21:52, 24 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Ysrael214 I have reason this should be analyzed as isa- plus root, as the prefix becomes isina- and isinasa-, but there's also this issue if we add a conjugation table for verbs with i-, it would link to a non-existent root. TagaSanPedroAko (talk) 00:20, 25 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
@TagaSanPedroAko: The other way to look at it is for example, in the word, isagawa, the noun root here could be sagawa, that's why it's pagsasagawa, and can become magsagawa. So if it's i- + sagawa, then the first syllable "sa" would be reduplicated in the conjugation, such as "isasagawa", "isinasagawa", and "isinagawa". --Mar vin kaiser (talk) 00:45, 25 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Mar vin kaiser @TagaSanPedroAko Maybe the root is actually "sa gawa" then the "sa" becomes a prefix when conjugated into verbs. Also seen with sumalangit and sumailalim.
I'm making up right now but the sa- can be applied anywhere you would use "sa" and we can still understand but just rarely used because it sounds archaic.

@Ysrael214: Didn't you just sort of repeat what I said? --Mar vin kaiser (talk) 08:56, 25 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Mar vin kaiser I did, and I affirm it but split the hypothesized root sa-<root> into separate words sa and <root>. Ysrael214 (talk) 08:57, 25 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
