Tagalog Etymology Source

@Mar vin kaiser He (@Rgt2002) cited RDZorc's Core Etymological Dictionary of Filipino. Where did you get iwian by the way? (I'm guessing Panganiban though he also said "theoretically" in his dictionary) Though it kinda makes sense that iwi also meant something close but Zorc said it's from aywan with original sense ("It left (me)"). Given that, I also would like to add support to that etymology with Vocabulario 1860 giving hints that ayuan and iuan are connected to ayao, explicitly stated at the syncopes page. With ayaw being pronounced ayáw back then, will become ayawán. Since the stress is in the final syllable, this syncope is possible, aywán. Then monophtongization will indeed yield éwan a la Kapampangan (stress shifted left since /ay/ took the syllable time consists of the duration of /a/ and /y/, é and ó are lengthed as well in Kapampangan), then iwan via vowel shift.
