Is the "tried to outsuave each other" in wikipedia:Maureen O'Hara a blunder, wrong as a verb, actually outsave or any sense? 85.91.92.13 07:48, 13 August 2020 (UTC) Twas me.... Sobreira ►〓 (parlez) 07:49, 13 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Not an RFV matter really, but this is almost certainly a nonce word out- (surpassing, exceeding) (the gloss for that sense needs improvement) + suave; to outdo one's suaveness. 1.152.105.120 09:01, 13 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

We should adjust the definition of out- sense 3 to say it is a somewhat productive prefix for turning nouns and adjectives into verbs. Vox Sciurorum (talk) 11:28, 14 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

I think the Shakespeare quote is an instance (perhaps the type specimen) of a snowclone, to out-X X (compare “out-Trump Trump”).  --Lambiam 15:18, 15 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
