One of the neologisms created by John Koenig as part of The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows, presumably rubato +‎ -sis, which should make it a medical condition. Originally posted on 27 July 2012. Also found here as One Word You Should Not Use, Please, but it had been circling in blog posts on the Internet before, seeking whom to infect. There seem to be enough abuses to meet our CFI: [1], [2], [3], [4]. Note that the way these authors use the term, it does not refer to the awareness of one’s heartbeat, but to the unsettling heartbeat itself, like a synonym of palpitation.  --Lambiam 07:44, 30 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
We also have an entry for sonder, another Obscure Sorrow. It survived verification.  --Lambiam 07:49, 30 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
