Talk:tantum
Latest comment: 5 years ago by Equinox in topic tantity in English?
Chambers 1908 has an entry for tantity, saying it was coined by John Stuart Mill in Elements of the Human Mind and means "the fact of being or having so much" (cf. quantity). I can't find the referenced usage in Google Books. Equinox ◑ 12:25, 16 February 2019 (UTC)
On The Second Definition and the example therefor
[edit]It seems to me that in the example used to demonstrate the second definition, tantum is not used adverbially, but rather substantively. Can someone else weigh in on this?
