Talk moved from definition page[edit]

I removed the following:

(Can we find and add a quotation of Ben Jonson to this entry?)

from the content page with this edit. It was under "To play a trump in a card game." TJRC (talk) 21:51, 30 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I put it back. Equinox 22:12, 30 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry; I come from Wikipedia mostly, where talk in the article is not appropriate. It's okay over here on Wiktionary? TJRC (talk) 00:38, 1 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It's not talk, it's a quotation-request template designed to be used in exactly this way. A dictionary is about the terms, not about subject matter, so adding examples of usage is not just allowed, but encouraged. Ideally, each definition should have one or two usage examples and/or quotations that illustrate usage of that definition. Practically, though, there are millions of definitions without them, so it's probably not going to happen in the foreseeable future. Chuck Entz (talk) 02:31, 1 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
