It's apparently an obsolete name for the w:Northern fur seal, so you have to look in older books. I tracked down the quote by William Benjamin Carpenter mentioned in the entry: Popular cyclopaedia of Natural Science, Zoology(1844), v.1, p.233 [1]. I'll see what else I can dig up. I've found a third quotation, but frankly I don't think the three quotations are enough: one is in italics, one is in the compound "ursal seal". - -sche (discuss) 20:38, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
