Vietnamese[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Non-Sino-Vietnamese reading of Chinese (fifth earthly branch, SV: thần). Some dictionaries (such as Thiều Chửu's) consider it as Sino-Vietnamese, but Thìn's /-in/ is unlikely to be a Sino-Vietnamese rhyme, compared to the likely one /-ən/ in thần. See also , Mẹo, Ngọ, Mùi.

Pronunciation[edit]

Proper noun[edit]

Thìn

  1. a female given name from Chinese
  2. the fifth earthly branch represented by the Dragon
