Welcome to Wiktionary[edit]

Hello. It's nice to have an editor in Magahi and Bhojpuri. Thanks for the entries & welcome to wiktionary. Take a look at my edits to ๐‘‚ฎ๐‘‚ณ๐‘‚๐‘‚น๐‘‚๐‘‚ฐ (The Bhojouri entry should come before the Magahi entry because we list them alphabetically).

Hi, just another minor detail. When you are transliterating a word, the letters should not be capitalised. So for example ๐‘‚Ž๐‘‚ข๐‘‚ฑ should be khani and not Khani.

Second welcome[edit]

This is some default, impersonal welcome text. But it will help you to express your language abilities on your page in a standard templated way that will allow people to search for you. Hiย :)

Welcome[edit]

Hello, welcome to Wiktionary, and thank you for your contributions so far.

If you are unfamiliar with wiki-editing, take a look at Help:How to edit a page. It is a concise list of technical guidelines to the wiki format we use here: how to, for example, make text boldfaced or create hyperlinks. Feel free to practice in the sandbox. If you would like a slower introduction we have a short tutorial.

These links may help you familiarize yourself with Wiktionary:

  • Entry layout (EL) is a detailed policy on Wiktionary's page formatting; all entries must conform to it. The easiest way to start off is to copy the contents of an existing same-language entry, and then adapt it to fit the entry you are creating.
  • Check out Language considerations to find out more about how to edit for a particular language.
  • Our Criteria for Inclusion (CFI) defines exactly which words can be added to Wiktionary; the most important part is that Wiktionary only accepts words that have been in somewhat widespread use over the course of at least a year, and citations that demonstrate usage can be asked for when there is doubt.
  • If you already have some experience with editing our sister project Wikipedia, then you may find our guide for Wikipedia users useful.
  • If you have any questions, bring them to Wiktionary:Information desk or ask me on my talk page.
  • Whenever commenting on any discussion page, please sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~) which automatically produces your username and timestamp.
  • You are encouraged to add a BabelBox to your userpage to indicate your self-assessed knowledge of languages.

Enjoy your stay at Wiktionary! Equinox โ—‘ 21:20, 27 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thank you! I'm update my userpage . Can you answer my query as to how can I edit an entry's title(rename)? From what I read it seems like I have to wait a couple of days to have my account autoconfirmed in order to do that. Is that so?? Anisht dev (talk) 21:29, 27 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
I'll update* Anisht dev (talk) 21:30, 27 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
You can't exactly "rename" an entry, but you can "move" it (from one title to the new title). This will ask you what to do with incoming redirects, etc. because it can be disruptive. You might need certain permissions to do this. Wait until you have those permissions, or ask someone else to do it (who knows about the language and topic). Hey,Code for Maithili and Magahi isn't working in the babel but it did for Hindi. What may I be doing wrong?ยฟ Anisht dev (talk) 22:06, 27 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello. You didn't do anything wrong, it's just that the templates hadn't been created yet. I've done it for you: Template:User mag-3, Template:User mai-2. Feel free to edit them if you want them to be written in Maithili / Magahi. PUC โ€“ 10:18, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
