Hello! What is your source for the formidable number of translations? —Suzukaze-c (talk) 07:10, 19 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Google Translate —Lexikhan310 (talk) 10:56, 19 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Stop adding translations in languages you don't. Google Translate is not a reliable source. If you continue, you may be blocked. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 02:05, 20 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Using machine translation for individual words is just totally unworkable. If you put in "rose", do you mean the flower, or the past tense of "rise"? etc. etc. Equinox 02:07, 20 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Then what is a good source I can use? Lexikhan310 (talk) 11:42, 20 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Can you three please show me a good and reliable source I can use for making edits? One instead of Google Translate? An online one that is free like wordreference but can translate multi-word terms? I would really appreciate it if you did. Thank you. Lexikhan310 (talk) 11:58, 20 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Add translations in a language you know; otherwise, how can you tell if you are making mistakes? —Suzukaze-c (talk) 11:59, 20 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
What if I want to add translations in a language I don't know? How can I do it WITHOUT Google Translate? Lexikhan310 (talk) 12:15, 20 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Just don't do it. You're not helping the project by doing that. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 17:28, 20 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Can I use Google Maps as a source for adding translations of cities and stuff? I swear Google Maps uses a better translation machine than Google Translate. Lexikhan310 (talk) 01:14, 22 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Bro no, I've seen Google Maps churn out the most hilariously awful Japanese transliterations of local business names. —Suzukaze-c (talk) 01:26, 22 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
What about others like Russian? I don't intend on adding Japanese, Korean, Chinese, etc. translations of cities, rivers, etc. If any, I'll add only those whose scripts I can read, pretty much Latin, Cyrillic, Greek, and a little bit of Georgian and Armenian. What part of no don't you understand? —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 01:42, 22 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
I just don't want to be blocked. Lexikhan310 (talk) 12:40, 22 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

If you really do want to contribute to a language you don't know, the best way is to find a source, published in paper format and written by a knowledgeable linguist, and follow that. Ideally, you'll want a grammar book (so you understand the language and how it works) and a dictionary (sometimes multiple). If you decide on a language and on sources, feel free to approach me with further questions. Thadh (talk) 16:46, 1 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

You are still adding translations in languages you don't know, and some seem not to be citeable. You have been given plentiful warnings, so I am giving you a one-day block. Please do not do this again. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 05:16, 10 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
I DID NOT USE GOOGLE TRANSLATE I SWEAR. PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO PREVENT BEING BLOCKED AGAIN. Lexikhan310 (talk) 09:40, 10 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
