Hi. "Used ironically" isn't the way to define a verb. That's a usage note. You need to define it like: "to go for a walk", etc. describing the actual meaning. Equinox ◑ 23:13, 7 October 2020 (UTC)
- Can you give example sentences of usage? Equinox ◑ 23:13, 7 October 2020 (UTC)
- It's typically just a reaction to something dumb, usually as an allusion to the :thonk: image. Means basically the same thing as a sarcastic "genius". For instance, you see someone make a nonsense interpretation and just reply :thonk:/*thonk*/etc. Nixinova 23:18, 7 October 2020 (UTC)
Twitch-speak category
[edit]I don't think you've set up the category correctly. I'm bad at these too. Please get help at WT:GP. Equinox ◑ 01:41, 10 October 2020 (UTC)
- I created it because it's added when using {{lb|en|Twitch-speak}}. How can it be changed so that template points to "English Twitch-speak"? – Nixinova (talk • edits) 01:46, 10 October 2020 (UTC)
- I think I got it. – Nixinova (talk • edits) 01:51, 10 October 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks, looks right now. Equinox ◑ 05:37, 12 October 2020 (UTC)
Maori words with wh-, when used in English
[edit]Hi. Since you edited the pronunciation at whanau: I'm wondering about the initial consonant in such words. whanau has got /f/, but e.g. whakapapa has got [ɸ], though ɸ is not a sound that would generally be encountered in English. Any thoughts? Equinox ◑ 04:09, 12 October 2020 (UTC)
- In English the "wh" in Māori words is always pronounced as an "f", and the same goes for most dialects of Māori. [1] – Nixinova [T|C] 04:20, 12 October 2020 (UTC)
Desired Formatting?
[edit]What are you actually wanting the format to be here? https://en.wiktionary.org/w/index.php?title=Unsupported_titles%2FFull_stop&type=revision&diff=61929262&oldid=61650204
because currently you have unmatched formatting. ShakespeareFan00 22:31, 3 March 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, but whats with the aggression?, I reverted because you added spaces where there shouldntve been. – Nixinova [T|C] 22:45, 3 March 2021 (UTC)
- Apologies, I was trying to be concise and specific, and thanks for the explanation. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 10:02, 4 March 2021 (UTC)
