English[edit]

Noun[edit]

WQHD (uncountable)

  1. (television) Initialism of wide quad high definition (2560×1440 pixels).
    Synonyms: 1440p, QHD
    • [2014 February 5, Eric Pfanner, “Samsung Reins In the Theatrics for Galaxy S5”, in The New York Times[1], →ISSN:
There has been speculation that the Galaxy S5 might include new technologies like an eye scanner that would allow the phone to identify its owner, or a so-called Quad HD, or WQHD, display, with ultra-high resolution.]

Usage notes[edit]

Sometimes used to emphasize it being a wide (WQHD) resolution, although technically unnecessary, since the HD resolutions are all wide.
