- Der westliche Lotus oder Zürbelbaum wächst in der Provinz Neuyork zu einem Baum von 40–50 Fuß hoch und 2 Fuß im Durchschnitte dik. Er steht in flachliegenden Gegenden auf kleinen Hügeln, oder an den Ufern der frischen Bäche und Flüsse, doch jederzeit in einer geschützten Lage. Der Boden für ihn muß trocken und leicht, aus viel Sand mit etwas Leimen, fetter Erde oder andern Erdarten gemischt sein. Celtis occidentalis. The American Nettle-Tree. Micocoulier de Virginie. - The western lotus or hackberry grows in the State of New York to a tree 40–50 feet high and 2 feet in diameter thick.
