Etymology

From Old Galician-Portuguese apostolo, apostol, borrowed from Late Latin apostolus, from Ancient Greek ἀπόστολος (apóstolos, messenger, one sent forth), from ἀποστέλλω (apostéllō, I send off), from ἀπό (apó, from) + στέλλω (stéllō, I set).
