Etymology

area +‎ -ic

By analogy from French surfacique. Introduced to English by International Standards Organization (ISO) in 1992 in ISO 31 (Quantities and units). [1]

Adjective

areic (not comparable)

  1. Of or pertaining to area; especially used to describe a measurement per unit area.
    Areic charge is measured in coulombs per square meter.
