ask in (third-person singular simple present asks in, present participle asking in, simple past and past participle asked in)

  1. To invite someone to enter one's house.
    We were getting cold talking on the doorstep, so I asked him in.

Usage notes[edit]

  • The object may appear before or after the particle. If the object is a pronoun, then it must be before the particle.
