[edit]Inherited from Ottoman Turkish آولانمق (avlanmak, “to be hunted, to be duped, to be suited to be used in hunting”),[1] passive form of Ottoman Turkish آولامق (avlamak, “to hunt, to deceive, to dupe”). Morphologically from av (“prey, game”) + -le + -n (“passive and reflexive suffix”) + -mak. Cognate with Azerbaijani ovlanmaq.
