Adverb[edit]

betg

  1. (Rumantsch Grischun, Surmiran, na ... betg/n'... betg) not
  2. (Sutsilvan, nonstandard in Rumantsch Grischun) not

Usage notes[edit]

As in French, the negative in Rumantsch Grischun, is formed with two words, one before (na/n') and one after (betg). When a verb is not present, betg usually stands alone. In Sursilvan and Sutsilvan, however, betg or its equivalent stands alone; in Puter and Vallader, the equivalent of na stands alone instead. Both patterns sometimes appear in Rumantsch Grischun, but they are currently considered to be nonstandard.
