Pronunciation

Noun

biljard c

  1. (uncountable) pool, billiards, snooker
  2. (disputed) the number 1015; a (short scale) quadrillion

Usage notes

As with other numbers ending in -jard (with the exception of miljard, 109), this number is disputed, as several authorities[1][2] claim that it "is not numeral" and "there is no name for thousand billions [e.g. 1015] in Swedish", respectively. However, the linguist Allan Ellegård claimed in[3] in 1980 the opposite.
