Etymology[edit]

bio- +‎ -scoop: ultimately from Ancient Greek βίος ‎(bíos, bio-, life) + σκοπέω ‎(skopéō, I look at), thus roughly “watching life”, via French bioscope and/or German Bioscop (now spelt Bioskop), a term used in the names of two early film projectors, developed by the Frenchman Georges Demenÿ and the German Max Skladanowsky, respectively.
