Inherited from Ottoman Turkish بترمك(bitirmek, to finish, to complete)[1], from Ottoman Turkish بتمك(bitmek, to terminate, to come to an end), from Proto-Turkic *büt- (to end)[2][3], morphologically bit- +‎ -ir +‎ -mek.
