Etymology[edit]

The idea of this quasiparticle was introduced by Nikolay Bogolyubov in 1947, after whom it was named. (This etymology is missing or incomplete. Please add to it, or discuss it at the Etymology scriptorium.)

bogolon (plural bogolons)

  1. (physics) A collective excitation, in a Bose-Einstein condensate, that has some characteristics of a particle.
