Etymology[edit]
Inherited from Latin cerebellum (compare Occitan cervèl, French cerveau, Italian cervello), diminutive of cerebrum, from Proto-Italic *kerazrom, from a Proto-Indo-European form *ḱerh₂-s-ro, from the root *ḱerh₂- (“head”). See also cerebel, which is a later re-borrowing.
